In December I had the pleasure of photographing Polly and Matt’s wedding at Bovey Castle. There was so much I loved about their wedding day not least spending time with such a warm and gentle couple. It was my first wedding at Bovey Castle and although I was slightly intimidated by it’s grand facade I need not have been, the welcome was warm and the Castle interior sparkled with Christmas cheer.
The mood in the bridal suite was calm and I felt a little whoosh of happiness when Polly lined up some Christmas songs. Sometimes it takes me a little while to settle in to my role but on this occasion the whoosh stayed with me and I caught myself a few times smiling at everything around me as I snapped away quietly.
The guest numbers were small as both Polly and Matt wanted an intimate wedding. I loved all the attention to detail in the both the floristry and the outfits for the children, especially the bright red jumpers on the page boys. My favourite moments were Polly coming down the staircase with her dad; the way Matt looked at Polly during the ceremony, and finally the dancing! So many people got up to dance and the energy on the dance floor was infectious.
To Polly and Matt, thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your wedding day and I wish you both every happiness in your future together.
