This year has been a very happy one for me as I have finally found a lovely balance in my work. As I have mentioned in previous posts I have wanted to start taking on more elopements and small intimate weddings as I just enjoy photographing them so much. Poppy and Luke’s intimate Autumn wedding at Millbrook Estate was one such wedding. I started the wedding as I always do looking to capture a few striking location shots of Millbrook Estate. I love this quiet time before the ceremony as I potter about practising my landscape photography. As a teenager I wanted to be a landscape photographer with lofty ideas that I could become the next Ansel Adams! Now at the over ripe age of 44 I am just happy that I can use my skills to get some beautiful views of the grounds before the bride’s arrival.
Poppy and Luke were lucky with the weather. The sun shone all day bathing the estate in golden light and the trees were perfect splashes of red, orange and yellow. Autumn is my favourite time of year for weddings as my style of photography is very much about colour and light – for me Autumn is a time when I feel at my most creative. Poppy looked stunning, arriving to the summer house hand in hand with her pretty flower girl. Charlie the spaniel whizzed about as I tried desperately to get a portrait of him, still a youngster he had that typical spaniel busyness. The highlight of the day has to be Poppy suggesting she would like to sit amongst the Autumn leaves, it allowed me to get a lovely picture with a riot of colour around her and Luke.
I was with Poppy and Luke for around 3 hours before it was time for me to depart and let them go off for a wedding meal nearby. I hope you can tell from the photos just how much I enjoyed my time with them, below are my favourites.
