Back in August I photographed another beautiful elopement wedding at Millbrook estate. Erica and James brought with them their two children, making it a very intimate, family wedding. Erica and James got ready separately with James and son George waiting patiently for the arrival of Erica and Sophie to the summerhouse. Everyone was involved in the ceremony, with readings from both Erica and James and also from the children. It was a particularly moving to witness, with such heartfelt words spoken by all. After the ceremony George helped open the champagne and confetti was thrown. The weather had been quite changeable up to this point so wellingtons were donned for a trip around the grounds.
Having talked to Erica before the wedding I knew that the couple wanted the photographs to reflect them as a family and how playful they all are together. It was important that the children could be themselves and enjoy the day along with the adults. This of course is music to my ears! I am loving my family weddings this year particularly because I want the emphasis to be on fun and natural images and a lot of my couples seem to appreciate that. Keeping things relaxed and allowing children to be spontaneous always make for the most attractive and honest photos. We definitely had a lot of fun! Erica looked stunning in her sequinned dress and James very handsome in his blue suit. I loved the flowers too by Melissa Baker at Honeybee Floral Art, they toned in perfectly with all the bursts of orange Crocosmia around Millbrook Estate. Crocosmia is a flower that comes in to its own there in August.
After a hour or so wandering the grounds for photos it was time to leave and let everyone go back to enjoy an afternoon tea party. As ever Millbrook delivered a wonderful celebration for the couple with so many excellent suppliers on board now and all of us wanting to do our very best work. For me it really feels such a privilege to be able to capture so many weddings there. So Erica and James, I wish you every happiness as a family and couple for the future, thanks for booking me as your wedding photographer. Here are my favourites from your wedding day.
