Emma and Greg’s blue sky wedding day took place at Polhawn Fort in Cornwall with the couple’s beloved dog Sydney playing an important part in the proceedings. Being an owner of one spoilt Lurcher I am a huge advocate of dog friendly weddings and on this occasion I was so taken with Sydney’s exemplary behaviour that I was wondering if I could borrow him for a couple of months to teach my own hound some manners. Watching Sydney mingle with guests without any thievery of food or attempts at escape was quite impressive. He only disgraced himself once by rolling in fox poo just after posing for some family photographs and was quickly ushered away to be returned to his bright white glory!
I met Emma and Greg a few years back at another wedding. Greg is a talented photographer and I enjoyed chatting to him rather geekily about F stops and lenses so it was lovely that years later he asked me to record his wedding to Emma. When I arrived at Polhawn Fort the atmosphere was very calm with last minute touches being made to the red and yellow colour scheme inside the fort. I love photographing weddings where the details are a little more quirky therefore Emma’s silk dress with a red net underskirt and red shoes gave a lovely pop of colour to every image. I thought Emma looked so beautiful and elegant, she is also one of those people that is just a joy to be around with a very soothing, gentle nature.
It was lovely to be back at Polhawn Fort again having not been there for a couple of years. It truly is a wonderful venue, especially on a beautiful Spring day, It is always tempting to head straight to the beach but I prefer to wait till the softer evening light comes along and in May all the daisies on the bank are in full bloom. Below are my favourite images from the day and I make no apologies that most of them feature young Sydney! Emma and Greg I wish you every happiness in your lives together and thank you again for asking me to capture your day.
