Jim and Lou’s elopement wedding at Millbrook Estate in Devon was a joy to capture. I adore photographing elopements or what are often called ‘runaway’ weddings at Millbrook Estate. I can slow down a little in how I approach the photography as never is it more important to be unobtrusive when the only guests at the ceremony are chickens and ducks. With it being a July Saturday the skies were blue and Millbrook Estate in full bloom and after the newly weds enjoyed their champagne we took a leisurely wander about the grounds to capture a few couples portraits. Despite having insisted to me that they were camera shy, Jim and Lou positively shone in front of my lens, Lou looking every bit as beautiful in real life as on screen. One of the best things about working at Millbrook through the year is watching the seasons change and thus getting a feel for where the light will be best at any given time.
I love giving couples a tour of the estate and seeing their faces when we first encounter the Alpacas! Often couples will arrive the night before their wedding and not had a chance to explore. I have such an affection for the place and for the all staff who are incredible at making every wedding day feel as special as the next. If you are getting married at Millbrook and are looking for a photographer please do get in touch and tell me about your plans.
