Living in beautiful North Devon I am lucky that I get to photograph a lot of coastal weddings. On August bank holiday weekend I had two weddings on the coast, the second of which was Alex and Dave at Tunnels Beaches. Oh how I love Tunnels! It never fails to delight me with it’s lovely staff, relaxed atmosphere and incredible setting. Equally delightful is Alex, from her first email I knew we would get along brilliantly, especially hearing that her wedding was all about the enjoyment of family and friends with the emphasis on a relaxed, fun filled day.
Alex and Dave wanted natural photography to capture the spirit of their day and like a lot of couples I work with were not overly keen on lots of stiff formal photographs. As I have said elsewhere on my blog this is a dream for me, the chance to completely immerse myself in the day without the pressure to set up lots of groups photo’s which take couples away from their guests and leave me hunting for uncle Bob and tiny Tim. They opted for just 4 groups pictures while everyone big and small played on the beach around them. You can see from the images how beautiful Alex looked, she lit up the day.
The highlight of the wedding for me has to be the sunset. Timing sunset photo’s right is crucial and I know when it is time because I start getting all giddy and chanting, “look at the light”. Off we went and again Alex and Dave were heroes climbing up and walking along slippery rock for me. The evening ended with dancing, the floor filling up and me beaming away trying to focus on the photography and not break out a few of my own dance moves.
Alex and Dave I wish you a wonderful future together, it was so lovely to have met you both and I hope our paths may cross again one day. Here are my favourite pictures from your day.
