I have worked with John and Emma Birkin at The Great Barn for a few years now and I can honestly say it is one of my favourite wedding venues in the South-West. The Great Barn is part of an estate called Place Barton and when John and Emma first bought the estate it was intended to simply be a family home. The barn sat derelict until John and Emma took the decision to restore it beyond it’s original purpose into a glorious venue for hire.
What makes The Great Barn truly special, is not just the scale of the space but the way John Birkin has lit the interior. John has previously worked as a successful director in television so has a keen understanding of lighting and acoustics, therefore these skills have enabled him to enhance the magical atmosphere of your wedding ceremony. For a photographer The Great Barn is like no other barn venue I have been to because of the attention to detail. From the light in the cottages, where you and your bridal party can get ready, to the incredible gardens that are planted for year round interest, this is a venue that can’t possibly disappoint.
