As a Cornwall Wedding Photographer I get to visit some fabulous venues so when I first visited Polpier House I was immediately struck by its fabulous location high above Mevagissey habour with breathtaking views out to sea. The house dates back to 1892 and was designed by a local architect. Having undergone some renovation the house now specialises in wedding celebrations and offers the option of having your wedding ceremony outdoors under a wooden gazebo. Polpier house can cater for 50 guests as standard but with arrangement this can rise to 100 guests. My first wedding at Polpier was an intimate affair with only 28 guests in attendance. Not only did I adore the house with its huge light and airy rooms but I was particularly struck by the gardens which wind down towards the sea in a series of nooks through old doorways.
The gardens provide plenty scope for photographs, there is a huge lawn next to the house where confetti can be thrown after the ceremony then as you leave the house you greeted by a pretty rock garden complete with goldfish pond. Wandering up and away from the house leads to the orchard and greenhouse but if you follow the path downwards you come to flower beds which I understand are full of flowers in the summer to dress the house with. Finally the path leads down to a walled garden which features a wonderful sculpture and another pond teaming with wildlife. Polpier is also a dog friendly venue so if you love your hound and can’t bear to spend your wedding without him or her then Polpier might be the perfect wedding venue for you.
Polpier House is keen to involve local suppliers in a wedding day and have plenty of great ideas on their website for food and wedding suppliers. If you are getting married at Polpier House do get in touch.

Emma and Adam’s wedding was an intimate occasion with only 26 guests sharing the day. Having met with Emma and Adam earlier in the year for an engagement session […]
