I have been lucky enough to photograph several same-sex weddings and civil partnerships. What motivates me in my job is to capture the love between two people be it a man and a woman or two women or two men, it makes no difference to me. The only difference in terms of the photography is that sometimes the format for the day may run a little differently, for example at a recent wedding both brides wanted to be given away by their fathers so a decision had to be made as to who would walk down the aisle first! When it comes to the posed couple photographs I tend to work instinctively and allow you to be yourselves, to hold each other in a way that feels natural. I like us to go for a little walk around the grounds of the venue and will make suggestions for places that make beautiful backdrops, then step away and encourage you both to relax and chat to each other about the ceremony, about the moment you first saw each other, about anything really! The best moments are the ones that happen naturally.
The best thing about winter for me is the chance to blog a few weddings that got missed from last Summer. I am not a gifted writer and having dyslexia makes it doubly hard as I agonise over what to write and how to express it. I wanted to blog Chrissy and Lou’s same sex […]
I was delighted when Katie and Amy asked me to be their wedding photographer for their wedding at Woolacombe Bay Hotel. I met Katie and Amy about a year before the wedding and from the moment they arrived at my home I could see how much they loved each other and how excited they were […]
I was so pleased when Sara and Charlotte asked me to be their wedding photographer at Millbrook Estate in Devon. Both Sara and Charlotte had spent a lot of time before the wedding setting up the retreat and woodlands with an Alice in Wonderland Theme, decorating the tables for an afternoon tea in the style of […]
This was my first Civil Partnership at Tunnels Beaches and I have to say I absolutely loved it. I’d not met Roxy or Riley before the wedding but I could tell in the emails I shared with Roxy that they were a lovely couple and I was excited about working with them. I started with […]
